The 2023 Zimbabwe International Film Festival (ZIFF23) which was scheduled to commence next week has been postponed until mid-November. The development was announced by Solomon Maramba, the festival’s Executive Director.
Good day all. Just an update on the festival preparations. The Zimbabwe International Film & Festival Trust has had to postpone its festival in response to schedule issues.
We have received further confirmations from critical participants from the continent, that arranging logistics has delayed our preparations to the extent that we felt that we didn’t have sufficient preparation time to ensure the delivery of a quality event.
We have therefore rescheduled the festival to 13-18 November and the conference to 11-12 November 2023. We apologies for any inconvenience caused. Promotion will be rolling out soon and we hope to see you there!
The 2023 edition of ZIFF had been set to be held from 2 to the 7th of October under the theme “ASPIRATION5”, the first in The Africa We Want Season of festivals the organization plans to run. The theme is inspired by Aspiration 5 of AGENDA 2063: The Africa We Want. ASPIRATION5 calls for an Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, shared values, and ethics.
The festival also had a 2 day conference planned, to unpack Aspiration 5 of the Agenda 2063 at the Great Zimbabwe monument in partnership with Great Zimbabwe University. An institution with a strong commitment to the preservation of Zimbabwean heritage.
