The self-proclaimed ‘King’ of dimples, Tehn Diamond has just announced that he will be going on a national tour. He is aiming to promote his debut album A Few Good Poems (AFGP) . The album’s release was mired by a few hiccups but Tehn is not allowing that to stop his progress.
Joining him on the tour is Ammara Brown, Simba Tagz and Thaiwanda Thai. This will be a good opportunity for Simba Tags who also released a new album in December last year. Ammara will be one of the high flying acts as she is still riding on the wave of her smash collaboration, Mukoko. She also started 2017 on a high note with the video to Watchu Want which is receiving much airplay on regional TV platforms.
The tour is set to take Tehn Diamond to ten urban centers namely Marondera, Mutare, Bulawayo, Zvishavane, Gweru, Chinhoyi, Kadoma, Chitungwiza, Masvingo and Harare. These are big moves by Hip Hop artists as Takura seems to have set the bar with his Varsity Tour last year. However Zvishavane has not been favourable to one third of the Few Kings, Jnr Brown. His attempt to host a show in that town last year was an epic fail.
In his press statement Tehn said,
Yes I’m promoting my album on the tour but more importantly, this is about getting Zimbabwean Hip Hop back to a place where it can compete on a continental scale. If we can have our own people supporting the genre, it makes it easier to export. It’s time we also saw Zim Hip Hop represented on Africa’s big stages like the MTV Base awards and the Hip Hop Awards so I am calling on all hip hop lovers in Zim to come to the show and support the movement because from here we are taking the show to the rest of Africa.
The tour is being organised in partnership with Zimboi. This will be a one of a kind tour as the lineup is star studded. The working relationship between Tehn Diamond and Simba Tagz is has been quite good for a long time now. They performed together at Shoko Festival last year. Therefore the tour might be a good initiative to get their new music out. We hope that the tour will be Bho Tsano!
