TrapSu originator Tanto Wavie has kicked off the year with an unexpected announcement. The artist took to social to share that he would leaving secular music and dedicating his artistry to gospel.

“Wanikwe 2025 is a new chapter. I’m done with secular music – l’ve given my life to Christ. Gospel only from now on. Watch God work!” – Tanto Wavie

Tanto is the second high profile artist in recent times to make a similar conversion, after Baba Harare (now King David) did the same in the second half of last year. With the latter releasing an 8-track gospel album a month after his announcement.

Although Tanto’s announcement may seem surprising, the singer has often talked about God and spirituality in his music. Tracks like Wanikwe Jesu, NaMwari and Muchinjikwa have been a small window into Tanto’s views on religion, and that window is set to expand with his latest announcement.
