A few weeks after announcing his move to Afro house (as according to him amapiano was in safe hands), DJ Maphorisa has proved true to his word with the release of “AIBOO.” A collaboration with GL Ceejay, Jazzwrld, Da Lee LS and Thukuthela that carries an undercurrent of Afto house and an undeniable 3-step bounce.
Adorned with claps that hit just hard enough and warped woodwind treatment, “AIBOO” is made for the dance floor. It has a soulful edge and dynamic production that gives it untold replay value and rhythmic balance. It is not only Maphorisa trying something different but excelling at it.
The song captures the sounds the DJ explored when he reached the peaks of gqom, alongside influences of amapiano that make the release unique. This is added to by the touches of GL Ceejay, Jazzwrld, Da Lee LS, with Thukuthela’s vocals being the final element to the puzzle. The result is a January release that feels like it’s meant for December.
