Sherwood Golf Club Invites You to a Special Day of Music & Poetry to Celebrate Africa Day!

Thursday 25 May, the continent celebrates yet another Africa Day! The day that honours the founding of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU). This year will be the 60th anniversary of the organisations founding and Sherwood Golf Club is inviting you to a special day at the club to honour it.

The club is going to be honouring Africa Day with a day of music, poetry and dance, with admission going to be completely free! Themed “Re-Imagining Africa”, the event will be kicking off at 2 pm and running until late. According to the organisers it’s going to be the perfect occasion to enjoy time with the family while you’re graced by music from talented musicians and spoken word artists.

The music acts scheduled to perform include the talented “Princess of Mbira” Hope Masike, Zimdancehall royalty Nutty O, Dhadza D, Hwinza and they’ll also Badd Bwoy Family. While the spoken word artists on the card are Afro PoetiQ Mind, and Sox The Poet. The event will also see a performance of dance from Urban Art Culture.

The Africa Day celebrations will serve as a kick off event for Sherwood’s Jazz & Soul festival which begins on Friday. Organisers planned the 4 day music showcase as a way to bring people together.

There is a need to increase the number of festivals in Zimbabwe. There was this sense of the HIFA gap not being filled. There is also a need to bring emerging artists with renowned ones locally and regionally. What better time than Africa Day to bring Zimbabweans together in an all inclusive festival. The Mabelreign community where Sherwood Golf Course becomes a prime location where the community can be entertained whilst bringing the rest of Harare and hopefully with time the whole nation into our community
