Sharon Manatsa recently released Number One, a collaboration with Selmor Mtukudzi. The track not only brings together two talented women but they’re coincidentally both daughters in law of the late legendary musician Zex Manatsa.

The chorus for Number One reimagines the Shona hymn by the same name. While evoking the memory of old, the track is a totally new song. It’s gifted with the unique flair of both artists as they add verses distinct to their voices. And the song also carries an amapiano instrumental courtesy of producer Spirit Fingerz.

No matter the day
No matter the time
All you gotta do is
Just remember
Uri mwana waMwari
Haakusiyi uri wega
NdiyeJesu number one
Number one
Number one
Number one
Number one
Number one
Jesu inumber one

The song talks about how God is the same at all time. It encourages faith in times of struggle, something Sharon Manatsa has always wanted her music to say. In an interview with Zimboson a while back she shared that her music aims to uplift.

My aim is to Encourage every single person! For them to recognise that their suffering does not last forever. Every day on earth is a blessing to achieve our goals and to enjoy life. Yes, we face challenges, but they are only there to make us stronger and draw us closer to God himself. There is a time for everything, all we need is to endure the hardships and persevere.
