Rooftop Promotions has organized a fundraising musical concert this Friday 1 October 2021 at Theatre in the Park for Bob Nyabinde who has not been feeling well since last year.
Artists expected to perform at the concert happening between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM include Hope Masike, Victor Kunonga, Prudence Katomeni, Agga Nyabinde, and Chipo Muchegwa.
The concert will be limited to a hundred people as per COVID-19 lockdown regulations and will be live-streamed on social media.
Rooftop Promotions producer Daves Guzha says the organizing committee is delighted by the response of the artists who heeded the call to participate.
“We have come together as his friends and artists to do this show to assist him in the quest of his health,” says Guzha.
Nyabinde, popularly known as The Headmaster has recently suffered a stroke. His sight has also been affected after a struggle with diabetes since last year.
Nyabinde’s son Agga Nyabinde who is also participating in the concert expressed appreciation to artists for the concert.
“As his son and an artist, I also appreciate what fellow artists are doing. Since music is our calling, there is nothing else we can do other than fulfilling his wishes that is listening to music while we are also helping him” Nyabinde said.
Hope Masike who is also performing said, “I enjoy enlarging our ubuntu and I think as musicians when any misfortune befalls one of us, we need to come together and work as a team to help one another.”
The Headmaster is one of the most celebrated musical talents in Zimbabwe, widely known mostly for his song Chabuda Hapana released in 2002 from his debut album Pane Nyaya which topped charts and made waves on local radio stations.
Rooftop Promotions and Theatre in the Park have been providing platforms for local artists during this global pandemic through the digital showcase and live streaming projects including Music in Africa Live, Poetic Dances – Aspirations in Proverbs among others.
