Redemptive Poetry

Self-admonition
Forces fire down my throat
Yet I smile not
At condescending judgements
Against the human-animal that I am
In my self-evaluation
I need to exercise the caution
Of a pilot navigating
Troubled skies.
Self-rehabilitation
Is a way to go
Watching myself
Through the lines of poetry
Every word striving
To find its place
Every strand that creates
A maze of thoughts
Trying to command other thoughts
Self-rehabilitation going to waste
Yet when reconciliation
Creeps back
Into the microcosm
The stinking mazes
Transform into beautiful strands
Of edifying poetry
Shoving aside
Layers of darkness
Like a current
Of crystal clear water
Sweeping the land
Of all iniquity
But satisfaction
Is normally elusive
No matter how bright
The sun shines
It will still find
The western fringe
Of the celestial curve
And frustration gathers
All over me
Like coal-black particles
Of settling night
Yet a sudden brilliant thought
Lights up my world
And my thoughts
Cruise around the curves
Of a new road discovered
Back to the same self
That proudly says
This is me.
