Redefining pageantry: Miss Ebony Zimbabwe hosts it’s inaugural edition

The Miss Ebony Zimbabwe pageant is set to make its debut on the 28th of March at Harare Show Grounds. The star studded affair will be a celebration of our diversity under the theme: Empowering through diversity, celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures and languages that make Zimbabwe unique.

“Miss Ebony Zimbabwe is not just a pageant but it’s not just a show, it is a revolution poised to dismantle the legacy of colonial beauty standards and forge a pathway to economic and social justice where black women lead,” said Faith Mazana, the Miss Ebony Zimbabwe Coordinator.

“The problem is that for too long it has been about Western beauty dictates where African beauty is ignored. There are harmful stereotypes which neglect the rich diversity and inherent strength of African women and traditional pageants fail to reflect the diverse cultural and linguistic landscape of our nation.”

The pageant has 21 contesting models, drawn from across Zimbabwe’s provinces, who are currently in a boot camp where they will be narrowed to 15. Those will then compete for the title and the winner will walk away with a car, cash prizes and three night stay at Cresta Hotel.

In June, the winner will represent Zimbabwe at the Miss Ebony Africa 2025 pageant.

The debut edition of Miss Ebony Zimbabwe judges has notable figures such as Yollanda Elizabeth Chimbarami, Dr. Solomon Guramatunhu, Doreen Sibanda, and Gianni Bauce. The pageant is also supported by FarmGuard, IVHU Tribe, Holosee, Mukanya Wines, and a host of other brands.

Miss Ebony Zimbabwe 2025 is set to feature performances from renowned local artists, and will be hosted by Curtly Gwindi and Kim Sibanda.
