Rachel Chinouriri has kicked off the new year just as well as she ended the last. The alternative singer has been nominated for the Artist Of The Year and Best New Artist, at the 2025 BRIT Awards. This comes as the singer’s debut nomination at not only the BRIT Awards but any major awards platform.

Reacting to the nominations, Chinouriri expressed gratitude to her fans, referred to as the “darlings,” and she also expressed disbelief at the honour: “Thank you to all of my darlings for carrying me to this point. I still cannot believe it believe it and will cherish this feeling forever. Truly.”

The BRIT Awards nominations come on the back of a stellar 2024 that saw Chinouriri releasing her debut album, What A Devastating Turn Of Events. The project was listed by Rolling Stone magazine on it’s Top 100 Albums of 2024 list. At the tail end of last year the singer embarked on a 7 stop UK tour and this year she is set to tour with Sabrina Carpenter in March.

The BRIT Awards (BRITs) are the British Phonographic Industry’s annual popular music awards. The awards were first held in 1977 and originated as an annual event in 1982.

Rachel Chinouriri is an English singer-songwriter of Zimbabwean heritage. She released her debut extended play (EP), Mama’s Boy, in 2019 to critical acclaim.

The singer was signed to Parlophone, with whom she released her debut mini-album, Four In Winter, in 2021. The single “Give Me A Reason” off the album was nominated for the Best Contemporary Song Ivor Novello Award. She then released her second EP, Better Off Without, in 2022.
