Summer is officially fitness season and PPC will be hosting a must attend for fitness freaks, the PPC Msasa Marathon on the 9th of October 2016. Now,  before you scroll down because you don’t consider yourself fit, (don’t worry we aren’t judging you) this event is also for you if you miss the fun in fitness. The marathon is all inclusive, so get your running shoes! A sensational second for PPC the building partner, its recent athletics initiative was the PPC Matopos marathon which is recognised as the qualifying event for the Comrades marathon.

For professional runners up to $16 000 prize money is up for grabs and this is the highest Zimbabwean marathon offering to date. The race will have a 42km race and a 21km race which have an entry fee of $10. For those who would like to enjoy some good old group exercise there is a 5km fun run which has a registration fee of $5.

The races will be run in accordance with the National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe under Open, Veteran, Master and Grandmaster categories for both sexes. Living up to the term of all inclusive, the half marathon will also include a Wheelchair Category. The 42km Marathon will start at the new state of the art PPC Msasa plant, with the half marathon starting line at St Albert’s Methodist Church along Harare Drive with the Fun Run beginning at the Warren Hills Golf Club. All race finish lines will be at Old Hararians Sports Club, where the public is invited to enjoy a fun run. As if the Marathon itself isn’t enough fun, the general public will enjoy some Zumba, Tug of war, Aerobics and a PPC Quiz competition in a day of testing strength, wit and intellect!

Forms can be accessed at the PPC Msasa Harare office, the PPC Bulawayo office as well as the PPC website www.ppc.co.za for added convenience. The forms are also available at the NAAZ offices at the National Sports Stadium, Betta Ball Sports offices at Joina City in Harare and at Mark Manolios Sports at Avondale Shopping Center.

PPC has been trusted over the years with the construction of some of Zimbabwe’s most notable landmarks including the Kariba Dam and the Harare International Airport. The Marathon is both a show of commitment and celebration as it coincides with the commissioning of a new cement plant in Msasa. The duo of the Msasa and the Bulawayo plant will have an annual capacity of producing 1.8million tonnes of cement in Zimbabwe, cementing PPC’s position as the largest cement manufacturer in Zimbabwe! The PPC Msasa Marathon marks an even greater investment by PPC, whose strength and commitment to Zimbabwe goes beyond the bag of cement, as PPC provides Strength Beyond The Bag!
