Gospel songbird and Grace Life Covenant cleric, Pastor Olinda Marowa–Ziwenga who lost her husband and friend in October last year last week disclosed that losing a spouse is difficult but God has been faithful to her.

Following the death of her husband Pastor Mike Ziwenga, the musician told the Hmetro that a lot has evolved but she is delighted that her in-laws have made it easy for her to adjust to life, focus on her career and preserve the ministry in Gweru afloat.

Despite all this, Olinda has not ceased working on new music.

In fact, she has dropped a new single titled Tichengeteiwo in February and she appeared on Mathias Mhere’s latest album Panogara Nyasha and also performed at the album launch.

“I have a number of projects lined up, including work on my fifth album and a DVD album. I have released a single, Tichengeteiwo. It’s a prayer to God for his protection in all facets of life. Protection on the roads, workplace, mines and those in the diaspora. There are issues of xenophobia and people need protection hence the prayer,” she said.

“A lot is coming this year,” she said.

In April, Olinda releasing a single titled Jesus Wipes Tears, a dedication to her late hubby.

“It’s not easy losing a spouse. Things have changed but God has been faithful. I thank God for my in-laws for their support and understanding. They are supportive of my career as a musician and also the sustenance of the ministry in Gweru, it’s still running. They are there for me even with the children,” she said.

“24 April was supposed to be our seventh anniversary and he was not there for us to celebrate.

“He was not there for my birthday on March 8 and all I have are memories of the good things we used to do. He would sing for me at midnight but this time it was not to be,” she said.

On her birthday Pastor Olinda had an emotional note on her Facebook page,

“Every 8th of March I would always wake up to an anticipation of a beautiful happy birthday song from my late handsome husband not even mentioning of the amazing messages he would pen here on Facebook followed by a whole lot of pampering on this lovely day and yes would have hilarious moments. However, today as I celebrate my birthday was put to tears when my 4yr old boy Michael junior woke up to sing for his mom. Amazing indeed! I thank the Lord for adding another year to me. Kudzwai Jehovah!!”

She added,

“April 17 was supposed to be his birthday and we had our ways of celebrating with him but not this time. This is why I came up with this dedication song for all the memories I have.”

On her late spouse’s birthday, she posted another note on Facebook:

“17th of April 1984 you arrived here on earth and 24th of October 2017 you departed from us! I cherish every sweet moment I spent with you. Today you were turning 34 but now you in a better place. Rest in peace my husband Michael Mufaro Ziwenga. I miss you so much!”

Pastor Olinda said she is looking forward to completing three videos next month as part of her DVD project with songs coming from a collection of her new and old songs.
