American rapper Snoop Dogg on Sunday evening shared a viral video of controversial Kenyan cleric Pastor James Ng’ang’a and leader of the Neno Evangelism Centre slapping members of his congregation in the name of casting out demons.
The rapper captioned it:
“When u(sic) late on the offering money. The. Rev need his,” adding on money and fire emoticons.
In the video, the controversial pastor is seen raining a boy with several slaps on the head in bid exorcise him. The boy, however, is adamant, taking in the slaps without flinching.
Pastor Ng’ang’a then moved on to other congregants, doing the same thing.
While some of his followers his Instagram followers went wild with laughter with most giving other hilarious reactions to his repost of the video, it also attracted several angry reactions as most of the rapper’s followers bashed the congregants for being gullible.
M1.1987 wrote; “What’s all this some african pastors do some foolish things that their members still do go their church”.
Hori45b said, “How stupid”.
Another named Nkemps420 wrote, “Guy gets to slap ppl for a living,” with lifeis2short68 saying, “The way he kept smacking that woman.. and followed her, I was hoping she was going to turn around and punch him back!”
Pastor Ng’ang’a’s name has in recent times become synonymous with controversy, and he had paid dearly for some of his utterances and actions.
Just under a week ago, the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), cracked the whip against Ng’ang’a, where he was fined Ksh1 million for exposing a woman’s breast during a live church service on Sasa TV channel. He was penalised as the broadcast was termed indecent content during the watershed period.
In August, some of his male congregants in Nairobi also took legal action following derogatory remarks he made about their reproductive organs. Through Otieno and Amisi advocates, they accused Ng’ang’a of insulting them by referring to them as cows and demeaning their sexual organs in the full glare of the media and womenfolk.
“All those men who joke with me, I will tie their tiny things, and they will be unable to function and only stare at their wives. You cows! Wait and see. Ensure you make this trend, “ he threatened in a viral clip.
The advocates asked the preacher to withdraw the threats within two days and publish an apology.
