The Minister of Industry and Commerce Mike Bimha has inaugurated the first National Competitiveness Commission (NCC) board to enable improvement for a competitive environment for Zimbabwe’s business through the development, coordination and implementation of key policy improvements.
The board comes after a process which included the passage of the NCC by parliament in May 2017 and the essential assertion of the NCC Bill into law by President Robert Mugabe.

“The guiding objective of the NCC is to enhance Zimbabwe’s competitiveness by proposing policy recommendations that will create an economy, which will attract both domestic and foreign investment,” said Min Bimha.

Zimbabwe has been having a problem in luring investors with the government being blamed for its ever changing and unclear policies. The board, which is expected to improve in competitiveness and doing business rankings in the next month will be chaired by Kumbirai Chiimba Katsande.

Other nine members of the ten include Tracy Mutaviri as the Vice Chairperson, Demetry Psillos, Gibson Chigumira, Ellen Ruparanganda, Elizabeth Nyagura, Charles M Mujajati, Maureen Chiteme, Devine Simbi and also Charles N Msipa.
The board shall add another member from Buy Zimbabwe according to Bimha. The World Bank website rates Zimbabwe at number 183 out of 190 countries on ease of doing business rankings.
The inaugurated NCC board has been put in place when the government is also implementing the 100 days easy of doing business. The 100 days easy of doing business are meant to improve Zimbabwe’s business environment as the country’s business moves up from 182 last year on business rankings.
