The old guards of the Zim Hip Hop are surprisingly standing their ground despite the rise of young cats who are murdering the scene. In this release update we have two old guards who are refusing to back down. Two big timers who made their names a long time ago but relevance is still stuck on them like a bad growth. Those hustlers, ladies and gentleman are Take Fizzo and Resilience Gze. Today on the hotspot is Beast (Chamunorwa).
Gze is back again with a banger. This guy has a history of shaking things up. You might know him from his smash hit John Bhuru, which is arguably one of the best Hip Hop track of 2015. For those who might not still recognise him, he was part of the Urban Grooves group Trinity, which had one of the smash hits in Jesa. Yes, that song with the verses that sounded like someone is telling ngano (Folktales). Now he is a fire spitting rapper who might even topple Jnr Brown as one of the best ever vernacular rappers.
He comes with this new offering courtesy of the production talent of industry veteran, Take Fizzo. Fizzo still has it and if you were doubting please listen to this fire that he just lit. This is the official hustlers anthem in 2017. Its all about hustling as Gze spits hard bars, talking about his life in the Sunshine City, chasing after the dollar every day. The hook, courtesy of vocals by Fizzo and a lady, is a traditional chant. This breathes life to the heavy vernacular bars that follow. Please listen carefully to the Idris Elba sample on the track from Beasts of No Nation. Word to the hustlers, turn on your ‘Beast’ mode!
This is a smash hit! If Gze maintains this momentum he might rule this year. That’s if Tulkmunny, Sharky, Takura and Myke Pimp slack, which is highly unlikely. 2017 is going to be a good year for #ZimHipHop. Quote us on that!
Listen to it and tell us what you think!
