A series of unfortunate events have struck Chegutu West constituency with so much swiftness and left the ZANU PF Member of Parliament Dexter Nduna appealing for divine intervention, ZimMorningPost reports.

The MP the tabloid on January 8 that two women were cornered, raped and killed by a group of assailants.

Last Thursday, Nduna said a vehicle ran into a group of people, including two vendors who he said were battling for their lives in hospital, while two others are dead.

On Friday, the MP said that four passengers perished following a head-on collision between a Commuter Omnibus and Bakers Inn tuck, including the driver who was a ZRP Assistant Inspector.

“Today, January 10, we have just heard of another accident that happened in Chegutu West. It was a head-on collision between a Baker’s Inn truck and a Commuter Omnibus. The driver of the Commuter Omnibus, a police Assistant Inspector, is also deceased,” Nduna said.

The ZRP Assistant Inspector was from Kadoma but worked in Harare.

Nduna asked Zimbabweans to help Chegutu West constituency with prayers.

“I am appealing to the nation to pray for us. We are asking the Lord to intervene in the things that our constituency, Chegutu West, is going through,” Nduna added.

While it is comforting to know the many ways that local, regional and national government workers and officials are responding to misfortunes such as this, you may find yourself asking if there is anything you or your church can immediately do to help. Praying is one practical way.

You can start the process by affirming the following passage from Psalm 46.

God is Our Refuge

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;
God will help it when the morning dawns.
The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.
