Dance is way to express yourself without using words. It liberates the soul and lets one to let go their emotions or to shadow them in mystery. hold them tightly. Dance is a personal passion of mine and any opportunities that facilitates people relating to their inner selves using the hidden ‘language of the soul’, gets me very excited! Yeah, I know what’s running through your head; you’re wondering what I’m on about. Well, over the years dance has been shed a blind eye, an accessory to more important disciplines but, thanks to the Mathaland Dance Awards this is going to change for Zimbabwe.
Organized by Jive Academy and Rebranded in conjunction with the Jibilika Dance Trust, the platform is focused on honoring the individuals who create and enjoy the Art of Dance with an aiming to improve the industry.
“We strongly believe that if our local dancers were awarded for their efforts we would have an outstanding growth in the Art form’” Enthused the Mathaland Dance Award Representative.
It goes without saying that this is a remarkable move to promote Arts and Dance, and can be external stimuli for dancers who were deprived of the platform to showcase their talent and passion for the discipline. The sensation of feeling the beat and rhythm coursing through your veins, how the Music takes control of your body it’s pure enjoyment, trust me! I digress.
Acknowledging the past and building the future of Zimbabwean Dance, the Mathaland Dance Awards has plans of creating an accessible platform for new and emerging dancers. Platforms such as the upcoming Mathaland Dance Awards and the more established Jibilika Dance Trust help channel young energy towards socially responsible, inspiration driven talent development with hopes of using Dance to expand internationally.
Dance has been one of the the fastest growing art forms in Zimbabwe over the past six years,
we want to build Youths that can be identified as local heroes through the social positive change they will have made in the society and the world in general, hence the theme ‘creating heroes through dance’’. explained the organizers
