Teased by the duo in a short video shot in a South African supermarket last year, the long awaited (not that long but fans have been able to contain their excitement about it) collaboration, “Inini Newe,” has finally arrived. South Africa’s Lady Zamar and Zimbabwe’s Jah Prayzah join hands for a love song that celebrates Southern African music. A Pan African spirit key to Lady Zamar’s upcoming album, Emperor Eclipse.
“Inini Newe” is the first single to drop from upcoming project set for release on 30 January, 2026, and it is a beautifully sung duet that sees the duo tied together. Jah Prayzah’s hoarse vocals are perfectly offset by Lady Zamar’s softly sung melodies, as they sing about a love as connected as the head and an ear: “Inini newe, kubatana semusoro nenzeve.”
The songwriting is beautiful but track’s biggest surprise is how Lady Zamar’s Shona singing sounds so natural, you can’t even tell that it’s not her mother tongue.
Grounded by Afropop sensibilities from both Zimbabwe and South Africa, it adds to a growing library of collaborations between the two countries. A perfect representation of Lady Zamar’s upcoming album, which is set to bridge Southern African musical sensibilities with a broader global sound, creating a project that feels deeply personal and expansively continental.
“Inini Newe” is available across all major streaming platforms.
