KYE & Tkay Maidza nominated for the ARIA Music Awards

Zimbabwe-born artists KYE and Tkay Maidza are both nominated for this year’s Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (ARIA). The artists have a nomination each, under Best Soul/RnB Release and Best Hip Hop/Rap Release respectively. KYE is nominated for the title track from her latest EP “Ribena”, while Tkay Maidza earned her nomination with her collaboration with Flume titled “Silent Assassin”.

The Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (commonly known informally as ARIA Music Awards, ARIA Awards, or simply the ARIAs) is an annual series of awards nights celebrating the Australian music industry, put on by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA). The event has been held annually since 1987. It encompasses the general genre-specific and popular awards as well as Fine Arts Awards and Artisan Awards (held separately from 2004), Achievement Awards and ARIA Hall of Fame.

KYE (featured image), born Kylie Tadiwa Chirunga, is a RnB/Pop singer and songwriter. The singer released her EP Ribena in May of this year, and the project is the follow-up to her 2021 debut project “Good Company”. KYE took her first steps into by working with Billy Davis and Slum Sociable, before releasing her first solo track.

Tkay Maidza has been active in the music industry for a decade now. The alternative rapper released her debut single “Brontosaurus” in December of 2019. Since then she has released an album and multiple Extended Plays, which have earned her multiple Australian music awards, an MTV EMA, and a nomination at the BET Awards among other honours. Maidza is set to release her second album this year on the 3rd of November.
