Bhekiwe Dube is a Bulawayo-based Zimbabwean Pop-Artist on the rise. Better known before her debut single ‘Secret Feelings’ as a model; Bhekiwe exudes her Instagram-bio manifested title, Superstar! Yes, although that may read a little fanatic, it is this fangirl’s truth, so respek it! Her style and demeanour give just enough melanin, girl next door prep for Pop and her vocals give ALL the old soul of R&B. To me; Bhekiwe is like this delightful Beyonce, Maria Carey and Amanda Black smoothie. The energy evoked in her vocals and songwriting gives off a refreshing take on R&B with a Poppy-twist.
And yet, Bhekiwe’s current but brief discography includes ‘Secret Feelings’, ‘Show Stopper’ and more recently, a Colourism activism anthem ‘Powerful’. With what feels like a tease in these few songs I am a believer and it is simple, we👏🏽 need 👏🏽 MORE👏🏽!
