The weekly Bulawain Poetic event that synchronizes Music and Spoken Word called Poetic Syncretism hosted the first time performance of pieces from the digi-anthology ‘Frabjous fling’ last night. The pieces were performed by co-author Valentine Tusai and hosted by contributors of the tell-all book, Natasha K and Kapitol.
‘‘It was explosive, fans asked for us to repeat the act…we are working on another event for soon’’, enthused Valentine.
The Poetry night which is hosted every Wednesday attracts a growing following of enthusiastic poets, writers and performers, “all poets are welcome, we are looking for that special zing in performances especially for the upcoming event during Intwasa week”, explained Natasha K.
Frabjous fling is a poetic book about women and sex that challenges the everyday narrative which often prohibits free sexual expression. While in most African societies sex is strictly a bedroom topic between a wife and husband, Frabjous Fling has dispelled this norm.
It is a story of a young man’s affair with a married woman whose intentions leave nothing to the imagination. The story continues with the pursued gentlewoman responding to the demands in the form of a poetry anthology divided into twelve responses by different women compiled by Valentine Tusai.
