Forest Fest Returns this Weekend with their Garden Sessions

Once upon a time one of Harare’s most loved cooler box and chill events, Forest Fest is making a return this coming weekend. Seeking to recapture the magic that made it so loved, it is set to take place on Saturday the 4th of March in Greendale (128 Coronation Avenue). The festival is bringing Season 2 of their Garden Sessions.

In the scramble to entertain Hararians on the weekends, the capital has become a hive of endless hangouts titled “cooler box and chill events” by the populace. Forest Fest organisers however believe they can offer up something different.

I would say the difference between our Garden Sessions compared to other events right now is the the experience we are going for. People seem to have lost the creativity which has resulted in having basically the same event over and over again with only different titles.

Initially launched in 2019, Forest Fest quickly rose in popularity. It had to be paused when Covid-19 hit but made a return when restrictions were lifted. The event hasn’t entirely recovered from the pandemic but organisers are hoping to keep on executing it well & staying consistent so that people are drawn to what they’re aiming to do.

This weekend they’re bringing a DJ line up that has a mix of known brands alongside some up and comers.

The DJ line up has some fairly new names, and everyone on the list has their own strong genre. I think a perfect mix of mature DJs like House of Killian & DJ Rush plus our new generation DJs like Sweet Culture DJs will create a balance in our overall music experience. The cooking sessions are basically a freelance slot where we try put people onto new music before it blows, and those are in the capable hands of Su.

Forest Fest will run from 12 midday until 10 pm. There will be a wide cocktail menu, shisha on hand and a host of drinking games. This will be the first of monthly editions to come this year.

Tickets are on sale from Joina’s Talk City.
