A very Nollywood inspired video for the Enzo Ishall single, Highest Score dropped today.
The fans are notoriously pissed and so am I.
The video which was supposedly supported by a cleric of the moment Passion Java shows he sponsored a little more than some crappy CGI. The Pastor might have possibly written the song.
I have zero proof except for Enzo’s half-assed delivery and tangental style.
Did I also mention that there is a literal Bible verse in the Youtube video’s description?
Psalms 23 to be exact!
The young star who’s inspired new forms of playful chiShona innuendo in songs such as ‘Magate’, ‘Next Time‘, ‘Mutasvi’ and ‘Bako’ makes a clear about-turn in ‘Highest Score’.
I’ll season a hint of credit for the creative direction, Highest Score is unlike most Zimbabwean Dancehall music videos or any Zimbabwean Music videos in general. This is both a blessing and a curse; pun not intended.
Many have been shook by the dark elements of the video which I personally don’t take too seriously.
Enzo sings, literally and does not Rap in the manner we are used to. This could be his exodus into the great international scene that many an Artist aspires. Perhaps a bit of originality might be lost in the process, fans will be disappointed and money could be made.
We just hope we’re wrong and he’s creating on his own terms.
Oksalayo though, Enzo Ishall kinda looks cute in a fitted suit.
Can we get an Oi!?
