EMA Inspecting Urban Land Towards Pfumvudza Programme

Environmental Management Agency (EMA) is inspecting land towards the government agricultural Pfumvudza programme in  the Harare Metropolitan Province.
This follows the government launch of the Harare Pfumvudza programme last week with a focus to ensure food security in urban and peri urban areas.

Harare Provincial Development Coordinator, Tafadzwa Muguti in a press statement said, “All potential beneficiaries (of Pfumvudza Programmes should note that wetlands and stream bank cultivation is prohibited.”
“Meanwhile Local Authorities and EMA are inspecting pieces of land which are suitable for farming across the province.”

The government will be targeting 205,000 families in Harare for the Pfumvudza programme, with farmers going under training.
Registration process for the training will start on Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 December 2020 from 0830hrs to 1600hrs.

Muguti said, “The training process is going to be conducted from Saturday the 12th to Sunday the 13th of December 2020, from 0830hrs to 1600hrs.”
“All residents interested in participating in the Pfumvudza programme are urged to go and register and get trained in order to qualify to be beneficiaries of the programme.”

Nationally, Pfumvudza is expected to benefit 2.2 million households according to the cabinet
A total of 2 139 275 households around Zimbabwe have already been trained on Pfumvudza besides the targeted 205 000 families in Harare.
