There is a new age of comedians rising. This trio that does not have direct contact with to the everyday lives of Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe. A lot of things pass them by and they only catch a glimpse of what’s happening through the window of social media. However, these guys have been at the forefront of telling Zimbabwean stories in a comic twist, from all the way in the United Kingdom.

Popularly known as Munashe, Xavier, and Gearbox, these three comedians are certainly setting the pace in their content distribution. Their market of expatriates who yearn for a feel of home revel in these comic’s relatable comedy which mimics some of the small things they miss about home. Tackling tribal, Zimbabwean and gender stereotypes these three kings rule the roost on social media and must we say, their skits look crispy doe!

First up is Xavier Do Couto. Famous for his ntsaro wearing character naThulani which have been the culprit in a lot of rib breakages. This character presents to us the stereotype Ndebele mum whilst taking us on a hilarious trip. Xavier has managed to embody this character so much that he has taken it to MCing at weddings and event. This guy also drops bars yo! Releasing a bevy of singles including one saucy one which had a couple of ahem… Beautiful women!

Next up is the fast-paced joke-dropper, mad creative and we guess, big-screen superstar in the making, Munashe Chirisa. He first caught our eyes with a skit about a girl with a dirty room and it broke the net. He runs under the MadeInZWE creative collective. This guy’s acting talent is impressive, which is evident in his skits and he has been scoring roles in the theatre circuit. He is our king of ZZimbabweanSnapchat comedy corner (whoever disputes this can fight their shadow).

Joab Magara has been breaking the next with his characters mimicking a Zimbabwean family life, especially the portrayal of that family living in the UK. His skits released under Vitae Arts which he is part of. He told The Herald recently in an interview that he aims to bridge the gap between Britons and Zimbabweans. He is surely doing very well considering that rapid switch of accents that we love. King!
