Zimbabwe and Touchroad International Holdings Group Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has started yielding fruits with a group of over 343 Chinese business and leisure tourists arriving in the Southern African country today.
The Zimbabwean Ministry of Tourism and Touchroad entered into an MOU on the 6th of April 2018 to facilitate investment and tourism promotion between Zimbabwe and China.
“This mega visit is very special in the history of tourism between Zimbabwe and China as we have not received such a big group before,” Tourism Minister Prisca Mupfumira said.
“We are ready and committed to do everything possible to make the stay of our visitors with us memorable one.”
The Chinese group will tour the Great Zimbabwe National Monument and Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
“We believe that they will get a full appreciation of the wonders of Destination Zimbabwe, that is our wonderful people and culture, our rich history and heritage, Pristine Wildlife and Nature, The Mythical Kariba and the mighty Zambezi, not forgetting the mountainous range of the Eastern Highlands in addition to Great Zimbabwe and the Victoria Falls,” Mupfumira said.
“Furthermore, there is going to be a Zim- China Business Forum that we definitely believe will ignite two-way business interest.”
“Within the same vein of intensifying our presence within our Chinese market, Zimbabwe will soon be opening a new Zimbabwe Tourist Office in Shanghai-China which will give us an active representation in this important market for our mutual benefit,” Mupfumira went on.
Touchroad is facilitating the travelling of Chinese tourists not only to Zimbabwe but also other parts of Africa including Djibouti and Tanzania.
“We are extremely excited by the potential to attract over 10 000 visitors from Tour Africa – The New Horizon tourism project that will run for the next 5 years,” Mupfumira said.
“With the support from Touchroad and the Government of the People’s Republic of China we have no doubt that our grand goal of increasing tourism arrivals from China will be achieved much earlier than 2025.”
