On Wednesday morning, at an exclusive event, Universal Music shared exciting news. The South African rising star Bonj, was announced as the opening act for Sam Smith’s tour. The “The Thrill of it all” World Tour is happening this April in South Africa. Bonj is a graduate from the National School of Arts in 2007, as well, studied jazz music from the University of Capetown.
From the streets of Soweto, she has earned her seat on the thrown with over 10 years in the music scene. She has backed for music legends like Mafikizolo and Nhlanhla Nciza. As if this is not enough, she shared the stage with music moguls Sharon Dee, Blondie, and Tresor.

Bonj singed by Jacquel Entertainment owned by Tresor, gave the audience a bit of her sound of what to expect when she hits the stage to open for Sam Smith.
“When I got the news I felt surreal. I felt an overwhelming feeling of affirmation, excitement & disbelief all at once. At that moment, I was truly grateful for all the challenges that motivated me to work harder for me to get to this life-changing point in my journey”. – says Bonj in an interview with Bich’ri.
Bonj who describes her sound as “Futuristic Soul with a fusion of Dance and Electronic”. Currently her single “TILL THE TIDE” which got released last year summer. She is going to collaborate with South African Queen Dj Zinhle and promises to bring some church to her set.
