#BushFire2017 : A Case of GOODLUCK !

391 0

South African electronic band Goodluck scored double last night at the African continent’s biggest bush inspired event – MTN Bushfire in Swaziland. This apparently was  the band’s first time performing at the event after ages of rueful longing…

We’ve wanted to play at Bushfire since we started making music

yelled their lead singer Juliet.

This was over a hysterical crowd at the Main Stage in the early hours confirming a post on their official Facebook Page that day which said

There is something magical and mysterious that has been calling us to Swaziland and finally today we are going to tick that bucket list.

And boy oh boy did they tick it ! The trio –  Juliet Harding, Ben Peters, Matthew O’Connell whose music is a blend of Electronica, Pop and Jazz rocked the stage over 2am with classics such as ‘Taking it easy’ and ‘Electro Groove’ not leaving out their current hits ‘Open Sea’ and their Black Motion collaboration ‘Kota’ as well as ‘I’ve been thinking about you’.

Making music since 2011, in 2015 they were selected to open for Pharrell, as a part of his world tour. Since then they’ve had a string of ‘GoodLuck’, pun intended. While in Swaziland  they won their first SAMA (South African Music Award)

Tonight is a big night for us guys, we just won our first SAMA!

announced Juliet during their performance.

Goodluck were awarded ‘Best Pop Album’ during the 23rd South African Music Awards  for ‘Nature Within’. This comes at a time shortly after during their American Tour where the band announced a new record deal with Ultra Music Records in the United  States and Sony B1 Recordings in Germany; joining some of the world’s dance music elite alongside Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, KYGO to name a few.

After the show they spoke to #ENTHUSE about the big news and what this would mean about their Indie-appeal.

“Our sound will stay very true to what we do, we love working with labels that believe in what we do and if they didn’t we would rather just go solo and do it ourselves. We are lucky to have found people we can work with on both labels and hopefully something good will come out of it…we are really excited.”

Clearly this is just the beginning for the easy going Capetonians who named festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury on their performance wishlist. We ll, we wish them …. Goodluck!

Have a listen to their new collaboration with South Africa’s DJ Ganyani titled ‘Fading’.
