Bulawayo Record Five New COVID-19 Positive Cases in One Day

Bulawayo’s National TB Reference Laboratory recorded five positive cases in the 23 tests conducted yesterday, resulting in 23 COVID-19 known cases in Zimbabwe.
All the five cases were due to local transmission according to information from the Ministry of Health
This has led to ten cases in Bulawayo, including from yesterday’s results.
Zimbabwe has so far conducted 716 cumulative tests countrywide and 693 were negative. On the 23 positive cases, three deaths were recorded and one patient recovered from COVID-19.
Updates from the Ministry of Health also say Case 18 who reported on the 14th of April 2020 is a 44-year-old male resident of Harare who had returned from the United Kingdom the previous day.

“On arrival, he had no signs or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 and was therefore put on mandatory quarantine at one of the designated quarantine centres.”
“As part of our intensified surveillance for COVID-19, the local Rapid Response Team collected samples from all returning residents at this quarantine centre.”
“He was diagnosed positive for COVID-19 yesterday and has since been relocated to Wilkins Hospital for isolation and relocation. He is stable, with mild disease.”

Besides ten recorded from Bulawayo, Harare has 8 followed by Mashonaland East with 4 and one other from Matabeleland North.
