Victory is coming and when you have it, it will define you. Matter of fact it’s here!
A praise and celebrations of the divine are in the wind, as changes present itself at every turn. Bongani Mhlabi, a sprouting rapturous, energetic and euphoric contemporary gospel singer who hails from Highfield in Harare has combined these holy ingredients into a beautiful visual concoction for his chart-topping single “My Name is Victory”.
Clocking in at four minutes fifty-seven minutes, the hippie, funny and scorching upbeat music video premiered exclusively at Batanai Gardens in the capital today and is available digitally now.
Featuring appearances from the likes of veteran gospel icon Pastor Gee, the video has energetic live street performances, simple-but-well-choreographed dance moves and mind-blowing creativity.
Along with his back up singers, Bongani is praising God with every note, move and lyric.
There is such a powerful message in the song and Bongani is trying to share the word of God in it. It’s such a piece of art that speaks to every type of believer. A celebration of victory in Christ, the musician prides himself in creating music that is able to touch even the unchurch-ed and compel those who are not deemed “believers” to want to know more about the Christian faith.
With a style that is not so conventional and contemporary while remaining steeped in the traditional gospel sound, the 30 years old star is poised to reach and minister to a myriad of people.
Directed by Matick Brothers Music and produced by Tamiswa Chapfika, My Name Is Victory, raises the bar for a crop of upcoming Zimbabwean gospel singers and rightfully so. He will certainly have a very bright future in the genre.
To the uninitiated Bongani is a son to one of Zimbabwe’s gospel music greats, Rita Shoniwa, from whom he believes the music gift has been passed on to him. He’s is also one of the worship leaders at Bishop Tudor Bismark’s New Life Covenant Church in Harare.
Currently, he’s in the studio working on his debut album to be released in the first half of this year. Pastor G, Pastor Richard Dube, Prophecy and Petronella Sengwayo are among those expected to be featured on the album.
