Shiri Ngainaiwe brings together two of the hottest properties in Zimhiphop right now alongside an equally talented producer in Crxzycrain. The track is high energy, with a gritty trap/drill instrumental characterised by a strong bass line and yet Bling4 is calm as ever in his cadence with Voltz JT moving in tandem with him.
Directly translated “shiri” refers to a bird in the Shona language but colloquially the term refers to the underdog and well the perennial underachiever. So based on the context of the song, “Shiri Ngainaiwe” means the underdog should fail. It is a reflection on society and the different relationships we have, professional and otherwise.
Bling4 has often been seen as the voice of consciousness within the current generation of Zimhiphop artists and although Shiri Ngainaiwe is heavy on the vibes, he still delivers food for thought. As the couplet of lines (below) which earn the song it’s name go, Bling4 is reflecting on how people sometimes don’t have your best interests at heart and only want to be in contact when it’s beneficial.
Munhu ane rough, kusvikira level rekuti shiri ngainaiwe,
Jesu ngairayiwe, mbudzi ngaibayiwe
Kana zviri paup ndopavanofona vachiti ngaadaire
Kana zviri padown vanozvitinya vachiti ngaajaire
If there’s any one statement that could wrap up the chorus of this track it would be, “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.” Bling4 sings about how his modus operandi has now changed because he’s learnt his lessons from past betrayals.
Shiri Ngainaiwe has countless quotables, it feels like any line from either of the duo is an Instagram caption waiting to happen. The song was released with clean visuals shot by Director Leoy V.
