In a surprising twist, it seems Baba Harare will be dedicating his talents to Gospel music. The Jiti hitmaker recently took to social media to share that he has been on a journey of discovery and spiritual growth, which has to a change in not only him as a person but as an artist too. He expressed gratitude to his fans and supporters, before stating that as part of his growth, he would be transitioning from secular music to Gospel.
I want you to be the first to be informed that as part of my metamorphosis, my music will also be changing. I will be transitioning from secular music to Gospel music. I hope to take you along with me on this new and exciting journey. God Bless
While most were taken by surprise and some seem to be embracing the change, a lot of fans are having doubts and they expect this to be nothing more than an elaborate joke.
One user commented, “Koling for our Lord,” a play on words making light of Baba Harare’s popular dance and how the genre change would see him dancing in the name of religion.
Popular personality and skit comedian, Madam Boss, wrote “I don’t trust you,” followed by laughing emojis and that represented some of general feelings about the announcement. However only time will tell.
Baba Harare last released the single “Rudo Rwako” in February, a track which features Bling4 and had significant success in not only streaming numbers but radio play. If history is anything to go by, the singer will be releasing another album in the second half of the year, and judging by the tone of songs like “Prove Them Wrong” from his last project, he just might surprise us with a Gospel album.
