Ayra Starr Headlines the 2023 Sunshine Cup at Borrowdale Racecourse

The Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is bringing her “21: The World Tour” tour to Harare (Zimbabwe) on the 14th of October. One the tour’s six stops in Africa. The singer will be headlining this year’s Sunshine Cup set to be hosted at Borrowdale Racecourse. Ayra is going to be supported by Zimbabwean songstress Tamy Moyo at the equestrian event.

Although still only 21, Ayra Starr is ranked as one of the top 10 most listened to African artists on Spotify. The singer rose to prominence in 2021 with her eponymous debut extended play. The EP had the hit song “Away”, which spent two consecutive weeks at number four on Nigeria’s TurnTable Top 50 chart; the song also peaked at number 17 on the Billboard Top Triller Global chart, paving the way for the release of her first full-length mixtape, 19 & Dangerous (2021).

The release of the song “Rush” brought Ayra Starr global mainstream success. The song charted in several territories, including Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom, where it peaked at Number 24.

With the song, Ayra became the Youngest African Female Artist to surpass 100 Million views on a single video on YouTube, and also the first to do so within 5 months.

Ayra also set a new record by becoming the only Nigerian Female Artist to have charted a solo song on the UK official Singles Chart. The song has since surpassed 220 million views on YouTube.

The 2023 Sunshine Cup will be the third edition of the horse racing event. Hosted by Hidden Culture the festival brings together fashion, food, entertainment and exhilarating racing. Last year the event had performances from Mango Groove, Goodluck, Simmy and Jason Le Roux.

Tickets are currently on sale at $30 for General Access and $100 for VIP. This year’s dress code is stylish and admission is reserved for persons 18 and above. The event will be running from 12 midday until 10 pm.
