A new comedy special is on the horizon for lovers of the genre as Andrew Manyika brings together comedy and poetry in a show set for Reps Theatre in Harare this weekend. Titled “Mind Your Language” the special will be on this coming Saturday the 4th of May. Manyika will be supported by Zim Hip Hop artist R Wiz, Afropop singer Bryan K, spoken word artist SoProfound and stand-up comedian Munya.
Speaking on the inspiration of the special, Manyika said, “I’m a funny guy who is always observing. I feel like language is the only real way to connect your rich inner world and convey it to another person. When it goes bad – it can be pretty hilarious and when it goes well, my goodness, it can be life changing. So Mind Your Language captures that whole spectrum of feelings.”
The “Mind Your Language” show will be kicking off at 6pm and standard ticking are going for $10, with VIP tickets being $20 each.
Andrew Manyika, a scion of the Manyika entertainment dynasty that includes renowned names like Sharon Manyika and the acclaimed late MC Emmanuel Manyika; is a distinguished poet and comedian in his own right.
He began his career in Johannesburg and quickly ascended to dominate the local poetry scene being crowned Gauteng’s slam champion before embarking on his comedy journey which has seen him being nominated for the coveted NAMA award for Outstanding Comedian.
In 2022 he embarked on The Colo(g)niser Tour, which saw him performing his stand-up comedy special across 4 cities.
