Afro-Indian Fusion Celebrated In Upcoming Harare Festival

‘India In The Sunshine City’ a week long festival billed to celebrate Indian and Zimbabwean Culture is set to kick off in Harare this week; hosted by the Embassy of India and Indian Arts Organization – ‘Teamwork Arts’.
According to the event website,

“the Festival has a simple aim, to bring together cultures of two countries that share common histories. Starting with textile and mining trade dating centuries ago, today the relationship between the two nations combines close social, political and economic ties.”

This is set to be the first installation of the festival in Zimbabwe which will feature a side of Indian- Zimbabwean Culture not often experienced including Cuisine through a Food Festival, Dance during ‘Bollywood’ Dance Workshops, Music by hosting the Sufi Gospel Project and Theatre for the ‘Bollywood Extravaganza’ and Musical.
The event is to be held at the Reps Theatre from Friday 2 September – 10 September.
