TO say we’re ready to be done with 2020 would be an understatement—this year has been a ride on this crazy, careening planet called Earth.
With the world seemingly on fire, it’s no wonder some of us have turned our attention to trivial pursuits, whether losing ourselves in celebrity online tiffs or all the socialites’ problematic burials and the abduction-not-so-abductions cases going on in Zimbabwe — meaning we’re nearly done with this disaster of a year.
But while 2020 has been a resounding clusterfuck otherwise, it’s been a spectacular year because, for the first time, we get to experience a lot of activities we used to go out for virtually, like festivals and Cook Outs from the comfort of our beds.
It appears that 2020 continues to be the gift that keeps on gifting. Zimbabwe’s prime film festival, the European Film Festival Zimbabwe, announced that they have lots and lots of movies that you can watch for free via their festival page on Festival Scope. The festival, which kicked off on the 30th of October and is running up until the 30th of November, said all one needs to do is simply create an account and then binge as much as they want.
According to the festival’s page, the online European Film Festival aims to be a magic mirror that we can use to jointly get through the current challenging times we are witnessing. The festival displays the variety and the complexity of the European Union’s culture through innovative film programming, opening up paths for further fruitful interpersonal and cultural relationships.
“We hope this virtual festival will contribute to making the film sector a key driver for dialogue, especially in the current situation, where culture and creativity have become more important than ever,” the festival organisers write.
Well, what are you waiting for? Over-binging has been made easy! Head to their festival scope site now and you can watch for free all those features you could not get your hands on all year.
