The recently held 2017 Kalasha International Awards which were hosted by the Kenya Film Commission in a bid to celebrate the success of filmmakers. The inaugural awards were held in 2010 and subsequent awards are held yearly in the last quarter of the year.
This year’s event was held at the Crowne Plaza in Nairobi in a glitz and glamour as Kenya’s film and television royalty spent the night celebrating their achievements.
The biggest winner of the night was Kati Kati, a film which centers on the supernatural. Its success was huge so much that it has been submitted to the 90th Academy Awards (Oscars) for nomination consideration, under the Best Foreign Language Film Award category.
