Of Snakes, Sexy and the Browns

A python slithering on her bosom, bum shorts and all that sexiness bundled up in one video. A Zimbabwean video! Imagine the uproar from the conservatives and those who claim to be cultured’. Ammara  and Chengeto Brown might have shut down 2016 on high note with a controversial yet highly creative video for their hit single Whatchu Want.

We are constantly awed by the strides Zimbabwean filmmakers are taking strides in music videos. The quality has finally reached international standards and the creativity is just impressive. This video is no exception. There have been complaints of Ammara not really showing off her sexiness in videos and as if Bhachura was a springboard, she has finally discovered her groove.

The story in the video is of a guy who has a woman already but is trying to get with another. The location, being a bar, was quite a good choice as the song had a dancehall feel to it. Its a turn up track and Blaqs made it his mission to bring that out.

Now back to the snakes! A theory in other quarters is that it was a representation of men being snakes, who play with your and turn on you as soon as they are done. The concept is quite good although foreign to us, because in Zimbabwe snakes are regarded as evil and assumed to belong to witches and wizards. However we have to applaud the bravery. Its creativity like this which will get us to the top not some tasteless green screen videos with the Great Wall of China as the background. Lets embrace this creativity. On a side note, Ammara and Chengeto looked smoking hot! Thumbs up ladies.

  1. Great Review….and about the video, we are now on the road to greatness. I foresee another MTV/Chanel O nomination coming our way

    1. Hopefully Mike. The industry is on the rise, its time the local television network recognises that!
