Brit DJ & Hip-Hop Godfather Tim Westwood for #Unplugged Zim This December

We would need a full article to gush about the revolution that was the once intimate blankets and a wine shindig for 100 or so people turned into the massive jol of diasporans every ke December that Unplugged Zimbabwe now represents. The event which hosts monthly events in collaboration with brands such as Heineken and Coca Cola recently took the plunge and hosted one of their ‘cool-kid’ gatherings in Bulawayo to a drip of resistance, but hey, we’re rooting for them anyway!

Their December shutdown is synonymous with ‘if you ain’t there, you’re square’ attracting nearly a thousand attendees fresh off their return flights and back home in the miz as it is ever so often and annoyingly called.

This year the organizers have coordinated every Hip-Hop head’s wet dream by hosting the British father – elder of Hip-Hop, the “Big Dawg” with over 35 years in the business of interviewing, playing and mixing artists such as Notorious B.I.G, P.Diddy, Eminem, Drake & Migos Tim-freaking-WESTWOOD! Heck, I’m not a Hip-Hop head and I’m excited enough to flash the 60 year old! (just kidding..maybe, maybe not) BBC 1Xtra presenter, Tim Westwood is on an African Tour that includes Nigeria, Gambia and of course Zimbabwe.

On the rest of the Unplugged line-up are the likes of Simba Tagz, Takura, Transit Crew, Edith we Utonga and resident unplugged DJs Reverb 7 and TK Beats.

The December edition is on the 16th and has for the first time a no-under 18 tag on it. In an advert the organizers stated…

“because it’s December, this Unplugged is STRICTLY NO UNDER 18…we’ve lined up a Christmas fun for the little ones instead…”

Tickets to Unplugged are available here for $10 each and $15 at the gate. See you then?
