First Lady Opens Women in Tourism National Chapter

The First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa officially opened the Women in Tourism National Chapter. It is aimed at integrating women from different backgrounds and spectrum within the sector. In the aim to further a common goal of socio and economic development in Harare yesterday.
The National Chapter will also give the platform for effective networking and knowledge sharing.

“Women in Zimbabwe are known to be hardworking and given the opportunity, they can do wonders and made a difference,” the First Lady said.
“What was required is to get organized and have a standing structure to proffer an effective channel of communication in order to promote and inspire entrepreneurship in the tourism sector.”

Mrs. Mnangagwa also said Women in Tourism gives women an opportunity to be masters of their own destiny. Moreso, be able to run their businesses sustainably, create employment and sustain livelihoods.

“Women in Tourism National Chapter, you have a mammoth task before you which require dedication and willingness to work with other women at all levels,” Mrs Mnangagwa said.
“The trust of the people is invested upon you as their representatives, therefore, be prepared to delivery and stand for others in every situation for the benefit of Women in Tourism.”
“Remember you were entrusted by other women as their representatives, consultations before coming up with a position is critical,” the First Lady added on. “Avoid being self-centred and selective, we want information to cascade effectively to those who matters.”

Tourism and Hospitality Minister, Prisca Mupfumira, who gave remarks during the official opening said the setting up of the National Chapter started last year by launching Provincial Chapters women freely participated and elected their provincial leaders.

“The Ten Provincial leaders automatically represent their chapters at National level, Mupfumira said. “Your Excellency, my  Ministry monitored these processes and ensured that elections were conducted freely and fairly.”
