ICT Ministry Kicks Off A National Cyber Security Week

The Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services and various stakeholders are currently hosting a National Cyber Security Week (CSW) to promote cybersecurity awareness and safety tips and change behavior to protect citizens against cyber threats.
At an Executive meeting in Harare today, the Minister of ICTs Kazembe Kazembe said the risk of cyber attack is real with the internet of things (IoTs) and its rolling.

“Together we need to continue to calls out these sort of distractive behavior, Kazembe said, “and when it comes to cybersecurity working together in unity is the best approach.”
“I encourage you all to consider and share how business and governance are meeting this challenge during this national cybersecurity week.”

The ICT Minister, at a press conference to the launch of the National Cyber Security Awareness Week yesterday, said the imminent threat of cyber-crime to National Security means that Zimbabwe must be prepared and in the position, to prevent and respond to evolving cyber threats.

“As all of you are aware, today’s cyberspace is woven into the fabric of our daily lives.” Kazembe said. “It would take only a single infected computer to potentially contaminate or infect thousands more. Ultimately, our nation’s cybersecurity depends on the people who defend it.”
“In Zimbabwe, we need to set up an impressive and sophisticated cyber technology platform that is used, operated and maintained by a world-class cybersecurity workforce.”
“There is no escaping the reality that our lives, homes economic prosperity and national security are impacted by the growth of these technologies and the internet that is now readily available on our mobile devices that we carry everywhere we go.”

The Cyber Security Week which runs under the theme “Think B4 Click” has an objective to cultivate a cybersecurity culture amongst internet stakeholders.
Today’s executive meeting witnessed the launch of the Zimbabwe Information Sharing and Analysis Centre( Portal) as well as the Cyber Security Booklet.
