Youths, Sports Arts and Culture Minister Kirst Coventry told the cabinet that the renovations at the National Sports Stadium are now at 90% complete according to Information and Publicity Minister Monica Mutsvangwa.
The Zimbabwean government went on a project to renovate the sporting facilities NSS and the Barbourfields Stadium early this year.

Mutsvangwa said, “… as part of Government’s thrust to upgrade sporting facilities to acceptable international standards, satisfactory progress has been made to date in renovating the National Sports Stadium as the project is 90% complete.”
“What remains outstanding is the procurement of bucket seats, turnstiles and e-ticketing.”

Renovations on the NSS started after the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA)  banned the country from hosting international matches in February this year indicating that local stadia did not meet international standards.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) lifted the ban subject to the continuation in renovations.
The continued ban would have led to the Zimbabwe vs Algeria match being played in exile.
