a call to someone to participate in a competitive situation or fight to decide who is superior in terms of ability or strength.

“he accepted the challenge”

I’ve never been a fan of New Year’s Resolutions, not sure whether it’s because they’re overrated or perhaps the high level of scepticism that courses through my Zimbabwean veins. Either way being tortured in gym halls and classrooms didn’t build a sporting personality in my big boned late 20-something self until I took a look around. So I wrote this list for people like me who need a  2018 nudge without the ‘superficial’ pressure of Social Media documented goals and achievements *cue eye-roll*.
Here’s a list of overly simplified motivations for you to get up off your ass both literally and proverbially.
  1. You Owe You One

Heck yeah you owe it to every inch of yourself to be the best version every day, it sounds cliche but it a helluva lot necessary. Can you imagine wallowing in gunky mediocrity for the rest of your millenial life. Gaaaah! what a f*cking nightmare. You are brilliant even if you haven’t found you’thing’. The least you could do for yourself is try for f*ck-sake – try fail and keep try-failing until the wheels on that potholed road of life keep turning. Not a single ‘other’ person can do that for you with their achievements my guy.

  2. Time to Pull that Trigger

We all have triggers that on occasion hold us at ransom. A dumb-ass tweet from some twat on the timeline about Rape, Fat shamming, Death or Depression tips you way too close to the edge. Sometimes you spiral, sometimes you don’t but here’s the thing. Once you sit back in the ‘cold comfort’ of your hurt, every other jackass with a QWERTY will trigger you. Quick suggestion…how about you challenge yourself against your trigger, let someone love you, better yet love yourself enough to make healthier choices, take up that craft, don’t be owned by the triggers. Reads simple enough doesn’t it? I know it isn’t…I’ve been there, lived there, got the key to the apartment – but it doesn’t make it okay, START and stumble your way through if you must!

  3. Get High on Your Own Supply of Awesome

The brilliance of challenging your beliefs, way of life or even standards is this … When you finally get your headway, when you climax upon that apex of own f*cking awesomeness, nothing gets you that elated!  A glance back at your progress may offer you mixed feelings – the strongest being that high-five to yourself type of vibe. It’s almost as great as double tapping your own Instagram Post on purpose. But seriously, self-satisfaction is the best ‘faction’ there is. Remember to let yourself enjoy it and if you’re having a hard time accepting that you totally kicked ass after, please refer to point number 1.

If you’re lucky enough to have the better things in life like iPad powered cars, an amazing spouse/partner, that job you can’t shut-up about on Twitter or worse yet…Facebook – good for you! Remember this Challenging yourself business is less about that one achievement and more about living to your full potential every-day.

Live LOUD chyna, all notifications on on because your f*cking awesome!
