Nigerian artist Burna Boy has come out to set the record straight about the common assumption that celebrities are ‘automatically’ role models. The musician encouraged people to determine their own life goals.
The Nigerian musician, who is a firm favourite in South Africa, has been living his best life in the States where he is on tour.
Burna took to his Instagram to remind his follows that he is “just a 25 year old” who leads an extra-ordinary life and that should not subject him to being a role model.
“I am not your role model. I am just a 25 year old who has been through more than any 25 year old should have to, therefore takes life 1 day at a time and tries to make the best of things,” he wrote on his caption.
The musician, who has released chart topping tracks like Baddest with AKA, reasoned that he is just living his life the way he sees fit and people find their own purpose and do the same.
He also encouraged people to embrace themselves for how “special and amazing” they are, so they can go forth and conquer.
“This is my REAL LIFE, don’t let your life be determined by how anyone lives theirs. You are Special and Amazing. You would not have been put on this earth if there wasn’t a Reason. I love you all. Love yourselves and each other. The World is Yours,” he wrote.
