Apparently the ‘Zulu and Yellow’ bombshell from down South landed a Hollywood gig. Ladies and gentlemen (plus Twimbos) Pearl Thusi is now a part of the Quantico cast. Sorry Emtee, the Hollywood hunks are about to crush your dreams. If you don’t know Quantico this article is not for you, lol in Tehn! Quantico is an American television series which centers around Alex Parish an FBI agent-cum-CIA operative. In season 1, she was a suspect in a terrorist attack. And with this addition the Quantico cast is about to look like the model lineup at the Paris Fashion Show.
Pearl is going to be playing a Zimbabwean who is a ‘type-A lawyer’ who after graduating joined an NGO for two years before joining her parent’s Boston firm. And the name of the character is Dayana Mampasi. Let’s pause right there! The name sounds like my grandma’s way of saying Diana and the surname is just off. Let it be known that Mampasi is Congolese and that there is no Zimbabwean who goes by that surname. This proves that Hollywood producers do not research when it comes to their African Content. This is similar to the Leroy Gopal cameo in Seal Team 6, where he portrayed a Congolese rebel but used Shona as the characters local language. Does Hollywood take Africa seriously? Most importantly, is Africa a country?
But I do not want to sound salty, so I will be the first to welcome Pearl to Zimbabwe, in spirit. I guess Emtee can now change that line to,”… She Zimbo and yellow”! This lady is going places and Hollywood might be the springboard to a very successful career. Just a thought, if Pearl Thusi was an actual Zimbo we would have seen that “Pfeeeee Quantico!” tweet already right?
