Mbeu And The Mhodzi Tribe At Theatre In The Park
Fresh from Cape Town Jazz Festival, a talented singer and the late Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi’s proteges, Mbeu will tonight delight his fans at Theatre in the Park in a one-off gig. Born Ashton Nyahora, his musical background is collegiate jazz and traditional, combined with a bold yet scintillating voice that gives his music a harmonious blend of retro and modern most current pop acts often miss the mark on. Backed by his Mhodzi Tribe, Mbeu has set himself apart from his contemporaries through singing mature sound.
He branched out from a supergroup — Tsvete — identified by Dr. Oliver Mtukudzi as one of the most diverse groups to emerge from Pakare Paye Arts Centre. His undeniable humility and charisma make his music tantalizing to the ear while grooving to the soul. His jazzy, reggae, traditional tunes combined with the power of live instrumentation demonstrates that pre-recorded modern pop tracks are still capable of translating to a live setting. He has fast become a darling for many promoters as he never misses a chance to deliver on every stage. The show starts at 7.30pm and fans would pay ZW$10 all-round.
