The Francophonie Cultural Festival Returns

March is Francophonie month and as such all over the world, the French language and culture is being celebrated with the arts. In Zimbabwe the Francophonie Cultural Festival is kicking off on Saturday the 18th of March throughout to the 25th. The Festival is being hosted in by Alliance Francaise in conjunction with the Embassies of Belgium, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the EU and Canada.

Punctuated by music, films, French dictation competitions and more, the Francophonie Cultural Festival will bring life its two main venues in Zimbabwe. These will be Bulawayo and Harare, where Allaince Francaise offices are located. The opening night will see the screening of a feature film La Vache (One Man and His Cow) at the Sam Levy’s Ster Kinekor with the event starting at 1800hrs. La Vache is a hilarious story of the journey of an Algerian peasant with a dream of taking his cow to the Paris International Agricultural Show. This is a must watch for comedy lovers.

According to the press release, the Francophone Cultural Festival represents one of the largest linguistic zones in the world. Its members share more than just a common language; they also share the humanist values promoted by the French language. The Festival aims to bring cultural diversity to Zimbabweans and offer the an opportunity  to view the world in a different perspective.
