Othnell Mangoma Moyo is a Zimbabwean Percussionist and Ethnomusician who has dedicated himself to understanding, playing and culturing the art of the drum.

Just this week through his project Music According to Percussion; Mangoma launched the single Busheshe which channels some strong Afrobeat.

A fast-paced love song; Othnell Mangoma and the Music According to Percussion crew sample Shona, Ndebele and oddly Italian in their lyrics.

The single Busheshe is new territory for Othnell Mangoma as he takes on a slightly more commercial direction staring in his very first music video.

The music video to our only complaint reminds us of EVERY World Music video from the continent, EVER!

This, however, doesn’t take away from the overall assembly of the song!

Produced by Mokoomba’s Lead Guitarist, Trust Samende; Othnell’s vocals are every bit of a west-African chant; the pacey, 70s Jazz-groove can be easily attributed to the late Fela Kuti.

We also think Busheshe could make for some great movie scoring.

Check it out and tell us what you think.
