Sony Music Publishing, this month concluded its first ever songwriting camp in Accra, Ghana. The inaugural event by the publisher brought together some of the most prominent African acts from across the continent for a week. This included two of Zimbabwe’s most decorated artists on the international stage in Rymez and Daecolm.

The two Zimbabwean artists who’ve each worked on platinum selling records were invited to the exclusive camp alongside other decorated names such as Tems, Stefflon Don, Teni. Sarz, Lojay, Ladipoe, Ms Banks,  GuiltyBeatz, Ozedikus, AV, Berwyn, Moon Willis and Jonny Coffer among others.

Daecolm who recently collaborated with Chris Brown on one of his Christmas singles said the camp was a revealing experience and described the music made there as amazing.

Being at Sony Music Publishing’s Ghana camp was an experience that really showed me how powerful our continent is. Just the magnitude of quality in Artists and how high the calibre was amazing to be a part of. The music that was made was nothing short of excellence. I loved being there.

Rymez who was also in attendance has been enjoying an incredible run in music. He’s secured collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Popcaan, Bugzy Malone and more. The artist also had two production credits on Winky D’s recently released Eureka! Eureka! album for the tracks Shaker and Peter Friend. Rymez expressed that he found the songwriting camp inspiring.

The Sony camp was a very inspiring and a memorable experience, getting to work with powerful artists from all over Africa is something I’ve always wanted to do. A lot big records were made and I am really excited for the world to hear what everybody made.

Both artists are set to release a slew of new music in the coming year.
