‘Rhythm City’ Actor Dumi Masilela Dies After ‘Botched’ Hijacking Attempt

Rhythm City actor Dumi Masilela(Aged 29) who played the character Sfiso spent the night fighting for his life in hospital after being shot during an attempted hijacking in Tembisa on Wednesday night. The Rhythm City actor was parked on a road in the area with a friend when they were approached by a black jeep. They tried to flee but a chase ensued.

“They tried to drive off but the black jeep followed and the occupants opened fire. He (Masilela) was shot in the upper body,” police spokesperson Kay Makhubele.
His friend who was in the car with him rushed the actor to the hospital where he spent the night fighting for his life. Officials confirmed he died this morning. The former rising football star who had to retire that career aside due to a leg injury was married to Muvhango actress Simphiwe Ngema earlier this year and the two had become media darlings as their romance grew. Attempts to reach the wife for comment have all been unsuccessful at the moment
Fellow actress Connie Chiume when contacted had the follow to say,
“I just heard and I was with him last week at the Rhythm City 10-year celebration party. I cannot believe it. I mean, he was just getting married a couple of weeks ago. I am torn apart. I am so broken. He was such a brilliant and talented young man and had his future so planned out,” she said. 
 Twitter expresses anger towards the unreasonable shooting that took the talented actors life with some suggesting #BringBackTheDeathPenalty
